The Diversity Training Series consists of these courses:
  • Cultural Competence for the New Millennium - A powerful, thought-provoking program that provides participants an opportunity to explore the concept of cultural competence at the personal and organizational levels.  From these perspectives, participants will increase their awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences and develop a deeper understanding of their impact in the workplace.  In addition, they will be given the opportunity to practice the skills required to work or manage effectively in a diverse workforce -- while achieving the vision and goals of the organization.
  • Developing Diversity Awareness Skills - This workshop provides managers and employees an opportunity to explore diversity from the personal, interpersonal and organizational levels.  From these perspectives, participants will increase their awareness and sensitivity to the dynamics of diversity.  They will practice the skills required to effectively work or manage in a diverse workforce -- while achieving the vision and goals of the organization.
  • Diversity 101 - Understanding Self - This is the first course of a three-course series designed to explore in depth the concepts of diversity and diversity management.  This course focuses on developing an understanding of oneself.  Through the use of standardized self-assessment instruments, videos and group exercises, participants examine their own values and culture and how these factors impact their attitudes, beliefs, and actions; explore the concepts of bias, prejudice and racism; get in touch with their own personal biases; and learn how to manage bias. 
  • Diversity 201 - Working with Others - This is the second course of a three-course series designed to explore in depth the concepts of diversity and diversity management.  This course focuses on developing the skills required to work effectively in a diverse environment.  Through the use of a standardized personality instrument, participants assess their personality style and learn how to identify the styles of others.  They explore gender differences impacting the workplace.  In addition, they practice skillful interaction with individuals who are different from themselves.  Finally, they learn how to apply their learnings to create stronger, more effective working relationships.
  • Diversity 301 - Supporting the Organization - This is the third course of a three-course series designed to explore in depth the concepts of diversity and diversity management.  This course is designed specifically for managers and/or those individuals leading the diversity change process.  The course focuses on developing an understanding of diversity management as a change process.  Participants learn how to view diversity as a positive force; how to make the bottom-line business connection between managing diversity and organizational success; how to determine which policies, procedures, and organizational culture attributes require change and how to affect that change; and their roles and responsibilities with respect to creating an organizational culture that respects and takes advantage of diversity.
  • Preparing for Workforce Diversity Presentation - Designed specifically for large groups, this two-hour presentation provides employees and managers a general overview of diversity and prepares them for their involvement in the organization's diversity initiative.  It highlights the inclusive nature of diversity and builds excitement and positive expectations for the planned diversity activities.
